Opera Santa Maria della Luce

The Nazareth Community Association is made up of lay people who intend to live their call to the service of the poor according to the evangelical spirit of the Holy Family of Nazareth. He intends to work in silence, imitating the hidden life led by Jesus in the thirty years that preceded the announcement of the Kingdom.

It arises from the meeting of people who have begun to share love for the defenseless and the needy as a vocation.

In 1992 the bishop of Orvieto-Todi gives the recognition of the Ecclesial Public Association and subsequently, the Umbria Region the civil one.

The Associazione Comunità Nazareth - onlus, was civilly constituted as an association of volunteers with a deed of incorporation of 27 July 1999 and is registered at No. 429 in the Register  regional voluntary organizations according to LR 15/94.

From the statute approved by Bishop Decio Lucio Grandoni on 15 September 1993, it is clear that the Associazione Comunità Nazareth is inspired by the life and work of the Holy Family of Nazareth  and the members are called: supportive brothers and sisters, who are those who support  association with prayer and financial help; service brothers and sisters who  they are those who every year (on the Solemnity of the Holy Family of Nazareth) renew the year  of service; and brothers and sisters of communities who are those who consecrate and develop themselves  a fraternal life in community.

The Associazione Comunità Nazareth operates in various fields. First of all in the structures  of the Opera S. Maria della Luce.

Since 1995, volunteers have been present in Mexico City and in  works born in Italy and abroad. In 2005 she began to participate in the CELM project of the Sisters  Murialdine in favor of children in need. A key aspect of the CELM project is  the commitment to take care of the support of Italian families for individual projects of Mexican children,  through forms similar to those of long distance adoptions.

Since 2013 the Nazareth Community Association together  at the Opera S. Maria della Luce she manages an Outpatient Clinic-Pharmacy  in the Barrio San Bartolito, on the outskirts of Città del  Mexico under the guidance of Sister Apollonia Chime Chinyere,  cardiologist and pediatrician.

Nazareth collaborates with  various public and private bodies and organizations and projects in favor  of disadvantaged categories. Some of these organisms are there  Caritas, the Food Bank, the Vincentian Volunteer, the  Italian Red Cross.

The Nazareth Community Association  organizes in collaboration with the Municipality of San Venanzo,  in the summer, school camps for children and teenagers.

With  the pastoral unit of San Venanzo and Morrano-Bagni provides  to promote meetings of lectio divina in families, retreats  spiritual and community moments of prayer, following the  pastoral theme of the year.
